Can we change the GL code for stock postings in SAP

Valuation class in the material master drives the GL posting of stock movements so to change the GL I would need a new valuation class to be assigned to the materials. This can only be done if there is no stock or open production orders on the material

Is there another way of changing the GL code being posted to for stock movements

Many thanks

You can try with Valuation modifier

Thanks Lakshmipathi

Can you provide any further information ?

Is this OMWD ? We currently have different valuation areas for each plant but with the same Val.Grpg Code so are you saying if they have a different grouping code they would work differently ?

In OBYC \ BSD we have the following 4 options

Debit/credit

General Modification

Valuation modif

Valuation class

But not of these are flagged and this is only against the inventory transaction BSD. All other transactions (BSX etc) are against valuation class

Many thanks

It would have been ideal had you explained to which account currently it is posting and to which account you want to post and why. Normally, inventory accounts are posted to different G/L Accounts based on the settings in OBYC

Hi

Thanks for your response.

In our test client I have created a new valuation class and updated all of the inventory settings in account determination (OBYC) and proved that this will post to a different GL code BUT I can only update the valuation class on materials where no open production orders or stock exist and obviously this is going to be tricky to achieve so I was just wondering if there is another solution.

We have multiple plants all posting to the same GL code under the same company code and we would like to be able to split them out to differentiate between the plants

Many thanks
