Activate serial no for already stocked material

I want to activate serial no for already stocked material can any body help us detail process for activating same.

Hi,

As Raja said it is advisable to clear stock and update serial numbers.

In reality, it is not so easy to remove the stock and update stocks with serial numbers. So you can do the following steps to active serail numbers with stock.

1. First OIS2 configuration update stock consistency to option 1 - Inconsistencies in stock data - warning.

2. Create manual serial number in IQ01.

3. Assign stock category or type 01, plant and storage location (you can assign while creating aslo).

Please note that in this process stock inconsistencies will be ignored by the system with warning messages.

It is always advisable to clear the existing STOCK, before you activate the Serial Number. You can Please take a look of the below screen shot, for more details, what will happen, if we try to Activate the Serial Number, for the Materials , with the existing Stock.?
Next Steps : You can clear the STOCK , then activate the Serial Number.

But i want Process Steps how to clear existing stock on the material which is non serialized & want to convert to that as serialized stock.
