SAP SAC - Automatic Creation of "new Members" without User Input

440 Views Last edit Sep 13, 2019 at 01:26 PM 2 rev

Hi,

In a Planning Use-Case we have a customer who plans on projects. Projects (ID and Desc) are modeled as a public dimension, because they are shared between different models. A project can have multiple project items (machines, services, ...). We can load such data in our model, use it to plan single project items and even append all new projects with the "add new Member" feature by hand.

The problem is: The Sales person who is entering the new projects should not be the one who sets the project ID. This means, we need a mechanism to create continous project numbers (creation of New Dimension Members = Master Data). Preferable we have a simple Button "New Project" that creates the project number and the sales person can then enter the additional data.

I tried using Data Actions but it seems we cannot create "New Members" of a Dimension with a Data Action.

Any suggestions, how we can solve this issue, without leaving the direct domain of SAC? (No Back-End creation of project numbers, no central upload of master data, ...)

I am gratefull for all your input.

Thanks.
