Just finished reinstalling the program with your suggestions and now the program works with no keycode errors. Thanks! C++ 8.0.61001 worked fine.

What version of Windows are you installing this on?

Crystal XI has been out of support for over 10 years and will not automatically install or run correctly on Windows 8 or Windows 10. In order to get it to work, you will need to do the following:

1. Install the 32-bit version of the Microsoft Visual C++ redistributable. I have versions 8.0.61001, 8.0.59193, and 8.0.56336 installed on my laptop - I'm not sure which exact version you need, but I would start at the newest (the first one) and then install others if that doesn't work.

2. Be sure you right-click on the install setup.exe and select "Run as Administrator", even if you're logged in with Admin rights.

3. After installation, you will probably have to find crw.exe on your computer, right-click on it, and select "Troubleshoot Compatibility". Set the program to run under Windows XP compatibility.

I'm am installing it on a Windows 10 64 Bit system. The laptop that died was windows 7 32 Bit.

So if I do the compatibility modification the "keycode.dll" error every time I open crystal will go away?
