Changing core universe source in IDT

Is there a way to change the core universe in an IDT universe (UNX) once its been published?

The scenario we are working with is that there is a core universe that has all the tables and object definitions in the core universe and we link those to the derived universe. This is what we have been doing for years with UNV universes.

That all works fine for the first time we are publishing the universe but now we want to change the core universe to another universe in the repository in a different folder but there appears to be no way to do this without all the reports that are based on the derived universe to lose their reference to the objects in the core universe.

Thank you for your question.

Please note I changed the main tag to Semantic Layer, as this is where IDT questions belong.

Please be more careful in the future when selecting tags.

This happens because each object in a universe has a unique ID, which is what is mapped into your report. If you change the core universe, all of the IDs will change. Unfortunately, I don't think there's any way around this.

This functionality worked in the UDT(UNV) universes. I am really surprised that SAP did not incorporate this functionality in the IDT.

I wonder if in future updates SAP will add this to the IDT.

I think we're lucky the derived universe functionality even made it into the IDT. The original plans didn't include it and it wasn't available in the early versions of 4.x.
