I am trying to install 0SUPPLYAREA infoobject and received an erro which says "Text Table /BI0/TCO_AREA contains data: Characteristic 0CO_AREA cannot be activated"..

0CO_AREA is already present and I dont want to over write any Info object which is already there. What might be the problem here ?

Try to activate 0SUPPLYAREA by choosing only necessary objects. It should help

I have selected "ONLY NECESSARY" objects..Still problem

After collecting the Object and before activation expand the object and you could see application area, Info area and Info Object expand each one and select only the objects you want.

Whats the best way to identify what all fields are needed for a new Infoobject ?

In my opinion it all depends on your requirement for example if you are activating costcenter you need controlling area also.

But what happens if Controlling area is already there and activated ??

It overwrites so please select button Match or COPY while activating second time.
