Hi Alexander Kutz,

Simple way is just define the data source same as your flat file(dont ignore any fields). Define communication structure only the required fields and map it accordingly in transfer rules.

or define all the fields in communication structure and map only required fields in update rules from thsis communication structure, dont map for other fields..

Hope this helps.

To define them all in the communication structure I need for each one a InfoObject - right? I have about 50 columns to ignore. Thats a lot of work.

Alexander,

If you dont want to crate new info objects, create a new file that only contains the required fields.

Because datasouce shold be same as flat file. Otherwise you cant load the data.

Hi Alexander,

While loading the data, the funda is you can load the data from a file to a structure is both are identical. So, if both your flat file and the communication structure are not in sync, you can not load the data.

As per your issue, if you want to avoid these odd 50 columns, better create a new flat file which does not contain them and as per the new file's structure and load the data.

Hope it helps!!!!

As stated before, deleting the unwanted fields is the most straightforward and cleanest solution.

However, if, for whatever reason, you are unable to remove them from the flatfile, you should also be able to omit the unwanted columns by positioning them to the rightmost position(s) of the file layout. For example, if costcenter and glaccount are included within your flatfile, but are not to be loaded into BW, position them as the last columns within your flatfile. Be sure NOT to include them within your comm/trans structure.
