Managing a reseller scenario using channel management

Hi All

We have a business scenario in which we have distributors/reseller who sell our product. These are independant entities and are not a part of our organisation.

The product when it is dispatched to these resellers is sent with an invoice (raised in R/3) on the reseller. The reseller then sells it to the end customer and manages it (provides maintenance services). We were evaluating channel management for the channel sales / service scenarios. However the concept of sales first happening to the distributor and then to the customer is not a scenario that I am seeing in CRM.

Any inputs will be welcome. Promise to reward points!!

Ciao!

    Hi Pranav,

Channel Management was designed exactly for the scenario you described. It's all about partners which are inbetween you and the endcustomers.

Which parts of Channel Management to implement depends on what you want to achieve with it. Do you want to share information with your resellers, do you want to do ordering on behalf, dropshipping etc?

Can you describe the business background in more detail?

    Best regards,

      Hi Pranav,

So the requirement is that you want to know who bought which product at your agencies? This in order to serve them better in the service and warranty processes?

I think there are two options for this:

      1. Channel Sales: uploading point-of-sales data which you agencies need to provide you. This way you have the sales per 'endcustomer'

      2. Channel Commerce: you can think of your agencies creating orders-on-behalf or for example your endcustomers can enter orders on your website and you forward them to the appropriate agency.

Probably the first scenario is most applicable in your situation as your customers are franchisees.

In the near future I also want to implement uploading of POS data but did not find yet any documentation on this. I expected this in the Business Package for Channel Management in CRM High Tech but there was nothing included regarding uploading POS data. So if anyone has any info on this....

      Best regards,
