One reason for this kind of error is trying to start hybris server as sudo ./hybrisserver. If it is the case, you should use just ./hybrisserver to start hybris server.

If the problem still persists, please check if some other application is running on port 8983. If yes, either kill that or change the port for Solr instance and try again. If you using UNIX based system, you can use sudo lsof -i tcp:8983 to find the ID of the process running at port number 8983 and then kill 12345 (assuming 12345 is the process ID) to kill the process. If you are using Windows machine, please check https://stackoverflow.com/questions/48198/how-can-you-find-out-which-process-is-listening-on-a-port-... to find and kill the process running at port 8983.

Alternatively, you can configure different ports than the default ones:

 solrserver.instances.default.port=9993
 solrserver.instances.standalone.port=9993
 solrfacetsearch.test.server.standalone.endpoint=https://localhost:9993/solr

hi Arvind, sorry for the late response. actually, nothing was wrong with the port. that installation was on Linux machine. now I installed it in windows machine and it is working fine.
