Difference between Catalog syncronization and Syncronize Action

Can anyone tell me the difference between this syncronizations? Looks like the same cronjob is triggered but Syncronize Action takes much longer alt text

    Synchronization takes more time than Catalog synchronization because Synchronization performs full synchronization while Catalog synchronization synchronizes only the updated items.
