How is backoffice better than HMC

If BackOffice does everything that a HMC can do What is the purpose to prefer backoffice to HMC?

Backoffice still lacks features like:

  1. Cloning an item

  2. Clean UI (the UI of backoffice is still cluttered; it's not as clean as that of hMC)

  3. hMC used to have a nice feature to send a Test Email (however, later it was removed and never introduced again after deprecation). It was a useful feature to test your email configuration. Now, you have to go to storefront to test it.

as Michał mentioned Backoffice Framework covers what the hMC was capable of

sorry, that is not true: I am still missing important features like sync of an individual product, which was possible with the hMC...

When do you expect these features to be released?

In addition to what Stefan said, about that Backoffice is all but not even equal to hMC:

  • No "recent opend" history

  • No possibilty to switch to another tpye view and going back to have directly the last opened item selected. E.g. haven Product A open in Products, switch to Categories and the back to Products, but Product A must be searched again for.

  • Not possible to to have 2 windows openend (your solution for window polution, but disabling of easy side by side view)

  • Login Bugs, List View Stackoverflows...

Hello Anishul,

as Michał mentioned Backoffice Framework covers what the hMC was capable of, but is a new UI Framework that gives you much more features. You may watch this Webinar I have hold for our partners back in June this year: https://wiki.hybris.com/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=304194663.

You will also find a PDF there that compares hMC capabilities with the Backoffice Framework.

Hope this helps, Christian

Hello Anishul

For starters, Hybris Management Console is deprecated and it's de-release is planned for Q1 2018 ( https://help.hybris.com/6.1.0/hcd/8bb15ed586691014a948d1553f4947cf.html ).

Just to name few Backoffice advantages over HMC: it has full text search, rich library of widgets, actions and editors, support for AngularJS or Application Orchestrator in which you can easly create and modify Backoffice applications without having to write any code. You can learn more about it Backoffice in following docs: https://help.hybris.com/6.1.0/hcd/8c17707686691014b72a8fb745de355a.html .

Mhh i missed the Full Text Search somewhere? If you mean the Solr Search in Products view, then full text is quite overestimated. It only uses the SOLR if you have the simple search. You need to change the search fields yourself from code and name to something that comes full text search more near. And don't forget it is a admin interface and they know what they are looking for and in which attribute they want to search for it. And yes we read the docs, but try to find the documentation about the property (so local.properties) setting of demand preloading size of reference editors there...yes there is a setting.

Hello guys,

I don't know about the Backoffice's free-text search, but I need to know what happened with the HMC's advanced search (or the Saved Queries)? I thought that core impl. was kept in the Backoffice and that it's supported, but the more I dig in the help. & experts. the more I see that it's not available in Backoffice now :/ We have a non-trivial requirement for backoffice search'n'export of data related to Coupons and their related PromotionRules and CouponRedemptions. Since the Promo-rules are quite powerful, but rather complex as item relations we were considering using the Saved Queries for that purpose. Is that possible in Backoffice, and if the old Saved Queries are not supported in Backoffice (practically deprecated in regards to Promotion related stuff, since the new PromoEngine items are managed only in the Backoffice!), please tell me what functionality to use for the purpose. Again to summarize our purpose is to be able to search by parameters some of which are from the Coupon items, and some of which are for example Conditions in the related to the coupons PromotionRules. Dumping the powerful HMC's Saved Queries feature without adequate alternative would be ... suboptimal ;) So I hope there is such alternative!

Cheers!
