LDAP Integration with SAP Hybris Commerce

Hi,

Is LDAP integration with SAP Hybris Commerce real time or it will offline mode ? I mean for every login user will be authenticated through LDAP or all users are imported into hybris using LDAP cronjobs and authenticated from hybris only ?
