Promotion Engine Integration

Hi, I'm trying to integrate the Promotion Engine into our custom storefront extensions. The intent is to leverage the rules system, but I need to work on some POC with the promo engine. I can't seem to find any documentation that describes the setup like some other extensions in versions below 6. Primarily I was looking for documentation that might describe the changes needed for powertools or another sample storefront. I can create the promos successfully in the backoffice, but I don't know where to start to leverage the rules/promo service in cart calculation.

I've been through the promo/rules engine documentation here and haven't found what I was looking for in the promo trail.

Hi Tyler,

The promotion engine is already able to work on any storefront, even custom ones. You need to create a promotiongroup and link it with the basestore and then you can assign promotion rules to this promotiongroup. You don't require any additional integration to make it work on a custom storefront.

Thank you Charles. I'm trying to create the link to promotiongroup using Promotion Website Groups. I only see an 'identifier' field beyond the promotion rules linked. How do I make the link to the Basestore? Do I need to make the promo website group identifier the same as the uid in basestore (I think I've tried)?

Sorry. I meant basesite and not base store. There is an attribute defaulltPromotionGroup on CMSSite. You need to set it to your custom promotiongroup. By the way, promotongroup and 'Promotion Website groups' are the same thing.
