Hi anyone can please tell what is the difference between cockpit and backoffice ?
Hi Yashpal, the cockpits (i.e. productcockpit, cmscockpit, admincockpit, etc.) have been introduced in the early days of hybris 4. The cockpit framework was actually a result of a cockpit implemented in Hybris 3. Due to limitations in the architecture and complexity in the extendibility and usability of the cockpit framework Hybris start building a new cockpit framework. This framework is called CockpitNG.
One of the differences between the cockpit and the cockpitNG is that all cockpit UIs in cockpitNG will be exposed in a single web application: backoffice. Instead of having multiple URLs for each cockpit, the backoffice will provide different areas for each cockpit.
The backoffice also provide an admin area, which can be seen as a replacement of the hMC. It is to be expected that other cockpits will migrate to the cockpitNG framework. The roadmap shows activity for the upcoming 6.0 release (CS cockpit) and Q3 (productcockpit), see https://wiki.hybris.com/display/general/Roadmap.
See also https://wiki.hybris.com/display/release5/Next+Generation+Cockpit+Framework+Concept#NextGenerationCoc... for more info on the concept of cockpitNG.
