Material Group description in SRM

Hi all,

We have replicated material groups from R/3 ECC50 to SRM40. We noticed that only 19 characters of the R/3 description are transferred into SRM. The short description in R/3 has 20 characters. We did not put any filters in R3AC3. Are we missing anything?

Hi su kumar

We faced a similar situation for help F4 key in SRM where it is truncated the last character.

Actually in the menu on SRM server system > Help> F4 settings change the settings to Modal dialog There are 3 options select the second one radio button may be this may resolve your problem.

or apply the latest patch level of your sap GUI.

Hi Nimish,

Thanks for your reply.

We checked the table COMM_CATEGORYT and notice that the number of characters are only 19. If the database itself has 19 characters i don't think the F4 settings would help. We are trying to find out why the system has not transferred all the 20 characters.

Also is there a way to transfer the 60 character description from R/3 into SRM?

R/3 T023T has short description (20 char) and long description ( 60 char ). The description in SRM COMM_CATEGORYT has 80 char length. Can we not transfer the R/3 long description into SRM?

Hello Sukumar,

depending on your SRM version, OSS note 455949 might help: in SRM 3.0/EBP 4.0 you can create this setting in the IMG menu under "Customer Relationship Management" -> "Master Data" -> "Product" -> "Product Category" -> "Define settings for the download from the R/3 system".

Ther recent post gives you the OSS note (455949) but there they speak around CRM customizing path. To access it in SRM use SM30 on COMC_HIERARCHY to use long description instead of short one.
