Default Media Cache Region

In our application running on Hybris 5.3.0.2, the defaultMediaCacheRegion is not working. The issue is that I can see the region through Hybris Admin Console but there is no object inside it. Is there any special configuration needed to make this out-of-the-box feature to work ?

As far as I know, defaultMediaCacheRegion is only effective when you select cloud-based media storage strategies (i.e. Amazon S3 or Windows Azure).

Then the region cache stores media files in local storage to reduce the latency of network transfer. Please refer to the following link for the details.
