How application gets deployed on tomcat by default

Hi, I m pretty new to hybris. In any webapp, we deploy war/ear file on server so that server understands which app to run. I tried searching in tomcat webapps directory looking for war/ear file but success was to no avail.

Is there any other way that hybris is deploying an application on tomcat which server understands to run by default(without actually using means of war/ear).
