Redirect to a custom cms error page for any exceptions

Is there a way to capture any exception and redirect the user to a custom page that's cms controlled? I'm trying to redirect to something like "/error" and using the spring doesn't seem to work. Do I need to write some custom handler code to do the redirect? Anyone else do this?
