When does Payment Info model gets updated during checkout in Hybris 5.1.0?

Kindly let me know when does payment info model gets updated during checkout in Hybris 5.1.0. This is with respect to multiple payments as I am unsure when to update the payment infos of both gift card and credit card

In Hybris OOTB, the payment info model will be created and updated after choosing the delivery address and delivery method.

Based on delivery address delivery options will be shown to end user. The user can choose one of the options form delivery options available for his address. Once user chooses the delivery option, the delivery charges will be calculated and will redirected to payment information page. There actually customer will provide the card details or the enters the gift card, at this point of call the payment info will be created if its not available and will be updated if we have a payment info already. you can have the credit card and gift card payment info models update at this particular point.
