Hi,

i am sure we can migrate ABAP stack without using sapinst by export/import following directories from source to destination but just wanted to check if i am missing anything else? Any help on this would really appreciate. Thanks.

/usr/sap/SID

/home/SIDadm

/sapmnt/SIDadm

oracle directory from profile directory.

Hi

1. In your first post you are not mention about HANA migration.

2. you can search in Google to find the link about the SAP HANA migration from Oracle.

3. Could you share you current SAP version details and refer the SCN thread from Oracle to HANA

Hi,

Please go through sapinst_guides standard docs

I think, you mistakenly mentioned /sapmnt/SIDadm. Whereas I understand is that you would need to take care of the ENV values adjustment. Anyways all those will depend on what sort of architecture you are going to take in the target system. Is it a homogeneous or Heterogeneous migration you are approaching. Since oracle, so also initSID.ora. /usr/sap/SID contents if you do not have any other additional services, then obviously you do not need copy of those contents, as the contents get created during Target system installation. For example, in target system you get /sapmnt/SID/exe & then the sapcpe program copies the content to /usr/sap/SID/Instance<NR>/exe

So, no need to think much & if you go as per PAM, then there is no issue. Of course, if there is any issue, then you can post a new question here after searching for similar issues content & we can try help you out

Thanks,

Thanks Kaushik. I will be working on Database migration from Oracle to HANA. on the target system, there will be a Vanilla HANA system and on top of that i will be copying the directories as mentioned earlier from source to target( this will be homogeneous). Once the system is up and running, i will use DMO to migrate the database from oracle to HANA.

yes we need to tweak env variables, profiles etc... i haven't started working on it yet. i was checking here if anyone followed this procedure and have a tasks list of what to change and what not.

Hi net pas,

If this is your case like running SWPM for homeogeneous & then DMO, I would rather say that you can have it done in one shot via SWPM heterogeneous migration with a Migration key

This could lessen your effort. I know many customers by the end does not bother how you achieve the Goal, while they do focus on Deliveries-Timeline. But if you are to explore ways in DMO migration, then its a nice experience. Reference HA250
