Enhancing datasource

Hello Gurus,

I need to enhance the datasource which is already in use,after appending the fields into datasource I need to write a userexit to populate these fields.

Do i need to delete setuptables & fill the setuptables again to get historical data for the appended fields or through userexit these fields will be filled.

    Hi Sunny,

    Yes, to get all the historical data for added fields, you need to delete and refill the setup tables.

    Hi Sunny,

    before answering your question let us see how data flows from R/3 to BW -

    extract structure extact + Append Structure (in your case)& pass it on the Enhanced datasource -->then Setp table (INITIAL) --> then it comes to BW.

    changes to any one of these parts ( datasource in your case) will lead changes to data.

      you need to refill the setup tables for historical data and replicate it in the BW. you can restrict the data while filling the data into setup tables. that's we call it as initialization in r/3. you need to give the same selection in the infopackage.

    U will have to fill setup tables again and then redo all loads..so that u can get the values of the appended fields in the historical data records.
