Ordinary Dep remains same after Unplanned Dep

Hi All,

I have an asset with acquisition date as 31.05.2019 for Rs 10000. On the same date we posted an unplanned depreciation say for Rs 2000. Ideally I would expect the ordinary depreciation to calculate on the NBV of 8000. However all the ordinary dpereciation for that year claculated basis 10000 as NBV. The changes reflected only from the next year.

Pls advice what could be the reason, is there any missing config ?

Please go through the below SAP Note

50761 - Unplanned and planned depreciation

Solution

Unplanned depreciations do not affect the depreciations calculated by the system in the current year. They have an effect only on the calculations of the following years.
Otherwise, a depreciation for a specific net book value would not be possible because the effect of the depreciation cannot be predicted easily.
If you want the unplanned depreciation to affect the net book value beyond the posting amount, then you must adjust the amount in accordance with the posting.
Usually, you should check whether (as an alternative) you can treat the transaction as a write-up. A write-up is a correction of the depreciation from the past. In contrast to the unplanned depreciation, the write-up affects the scheduled depreciation in the current year in the case of a net book value depreciation.

How can I prematurely depreciate a fixed asset that has reached the net book value zero due to a scheduled depreciation in the current year?
If you post an unplanned depreciation in this case, the system issues error message AA 649 due to the reasons described above.
To achieve the required result, you have the following options:

    1. Change the depreciation key to "Immediate depreciation". The fixed asset reaches the book value zero in the next posting run.
    2. Change the depreciation key to "Manual depreciation". Use transaction type 600 or 610 to post the ordinary depreciation up to the current call-up point. Post the unplanned depreciation.
    3. Post a negative write-up. You can post a negative write-up simply by entering a negative amount.
    4. As of development status ERP 6.0, you can also take unplanned depreciation into account in the current year using the new depreciation calculation. For more information about this, see Note 1634613.

Hi Narasimhulu,

Yes, I checked and found the multi level is maintained with base value as 24 (Net Book Value). I am thinking of changing it to 10 ( ie Acq value reduced by unplanned depreciation)

As you asked for the period control, am sending you the screen shot, Z1 is 'Full month depreciation for acquisition month'
