Hello experts,
I've been looking into OData services for a while and I successfully managed to create a service and activate it. My desire was to use the OData service in concordance with SAPUI5 on SAP Web IDE.
The only problem I bumped into is when I tried to create a destination for my OData service inside SAP Cloud Platform. I tried using the URL that the service provides in \IWFND\MAINT_SERVICE, that works flawlessly in a browser, but fails the test when checking the destination state in SAP Cloud Platform.
I've later found out that I have to expose the OData service in SAP Process Orchestration by accesing NetWeaver Administration as read here: https://blogs.sap.com/2015/05/11/developing-odata-services-in-sap-backend-and-exposing-odata-services-in-sap-po/ and create a destination to my system. The problem is our system admin is really confused about this process and believes there must be another way to do it.
I've come to you for help and ask if creating a destination in NWA is mandatory for accessing OData services through SAP Web IDE or if there is an alternative way? since I will not be granted access to NWA to research the subject further.
Thank you in advance,
David
