Data confidentiality options of SAP

0 Kudos

We are using S4/HANA running on Suse Linux servers leased from AWS. Currently, all GUI and RFC connections are going through an IPsec VPN tunnel between our company LAN and AWS.

My question is;

Other than IPsec VPN, are there any SAP connectivity options providing confidentiality of data exchanged between GUI/RFC applications and SAP servers?

Hi YangWo,

Although Isaias has already given you some great answers, you might consider adding some additional tags to your question, as it's something that surely others have pondered, too. It's not really a Linux question, after all, is it?

I would suggest adding "Security", "NW ABAP Remote Function Call (RFC)", and "UI SAP GUI for Windows" (or Java, as appropriate for your environment).

Hello YangWo,

You can enbale SNC, so:

  1. there is data encryption between the SAP GUI and the SAP system.
    In this case, enable SNC at the SAP system and configure SAP GUI to use it;
  2. there is encryption between the SAP systems on your own LAN and the AWS hosted systems.
    In this case, SNC must be enabled and configured in both ends.

The "network encryption" section of this wiki might be a good starting point.
