CM21 cant dispatch production order when starting in shift 2

cm21.png

Hello,

I am using 2 shifts for work center, 12hrs each (24hr total) with no breaks, I only have 1 operation per PO without any setup or interoperation times, when trying to dispatch continuous production orders, if previous PO finishes during shift 2, next PO does not start immediately, it jumps until time start of shift 1, cant start any PO during shift 2, always sends the PO forwards leave a blank space. Please explain why.

In CM21 I am using Dispatch at earliest point in time option.

Hello,

Please refer the expert suggestion by Caetano and Tom.

Apart from that, do you have 24 hrs of working shift pattern assigned to work center?

Please check on 04/08 which Sunday is working day as per factory calendar or do you have setup overwrite factory calendar in shift definition of work center.

Use report RCCYCALCHECK can be used to find inconsistent shift intervals.

Also check SAP note 2097507 - CM25 : Work-center calendar displayed incorrectly for night shifts in graphical planning table.

Best Regards,

Hi Alejandro

In your strategy profile, can you please try with the setting closing gaps equal to '2 - until end of the planning period'?

Also, make sure that there is no period split defined in the strategy profile.

Caetano

Did that and still doesn't work 😞

Hi Alejandro,

In your capacity header for the capacity used in the operation, please check the checkbox to allow "Can be used by several operations".

In my system I can dispatch down to the minute within a shift with multiple orders, so there is some difference we will get to the bottom of.

Hello Tom, I checked and still the issue, system can not use available time for shift 2.

I found out why!

Note 148891 - Error in dispatching/scheduling/time determination gave me the answer,

In the shifts I had wrongly defined the validity interval, instead of 31/12/9999, I had set 12/12/9999.

Corrected this and now I can schedule correctly all my orders!

Thank you all.

Nice work, Alejandro. That is an obscure error! Good to know about the note.

Hi Alejandro,

Have you also reviewed Note/KBA 150007 (and related Notes!) to find answers to problems of scheduling of order headers and operations?

Thanks, Tom

I was checking this note and this text called me atention:

* Have night shifts been assigned to the last operation relevant to scheduling?

Yes: Note that for a backward scheduling the finish date is the end of the night shift of the previous day so that the order finish date can be moved by one day. As a result, the production dates can fall on a day off, according to factory calendar.

Is it possible that system cannot schedule order start if last night shift is not finished on hour 00:00:00? And it sends it to next shift?

My understanding is this is referring to something different. If the order ends at 23:00 according to the scheduled end date/time, the system will make the Basic Finish Date the following day. That is how I have understood this and have seen the system behave.

Previous production order dates are:

Basic end date: 30.07.2019 24:00

Scheduled end date: 30.07.2019 20:33

I want to schedule next production order start date on 30.07.2019 20:34 (immediately when previous production order is finished, this works when order starts inside shift 1)

But system is giving me these dates for next production order.

Basic start date: 31.07.2019 06:00

Scheduled start date: 31.07.2019 06:00

Adding OPU3 screen.

Great! This is progress. So you seem to have a scheduling problem and not a dispatching problem. You are running MRP with detailed scheduling, I assume. I know you said you do not have a work break schedule, but humor me and change your OPU3 setting to include "Scheduling with Breaks". Or maybe you have already tried that.

Yes I executed MRP with detaling scheduling and no brakes are set.

Hello all, thank you for your answers!

I did suggestions you mention but still the same issue, system is not letting me use available hours in shift 2, and start time goes to shift 1.

I'm not using period split and calendar is open 24/7. 12 hrs per shift, shift 1 from 06:00:01 to 18:00 and shift 2 from 18:00:01 to 06:00.

Adding screen shots.

Please help on this.cm211.pngcm212.pngcm213.png

What is the Basic Start Date and the Scheduled Start Date on the order header of the order you wish to dispatch to Shift 1? Is it the next day?

Also, can you provide a screen shot of your settings in OPU3 for "Scheduling Control for Detailed Scheduling".

Sorry I meant "Shift 2" not "Shift 1".
