Highlight next text field using TAB and adjust size of menu buttons

Hi Expert!

My SAP GUI was reinstall and I cannot select the text fields using the TAB key anymore. It happens in all the SAP instances. For example in FB03, after entering a document number, I press TAB to automatically go to the document date or reference field and at the same time highlight the said field. I know I can just delete or modify the text fields but of course, in our work, we handle a lot of accounts so this little bit of help can go a long way.

In addition, function button on the screen is so small than in the previous version such as execute button, enter, find next or other short cut button.

Is it possible to adjust the size of those icons (buttons)?

Thanks so much,

Hi Nhan,

First, I changed the tag for your question, as this isn't really Basis Technology nor EWM, it's about SAP GUI.

Your first question, about the behavior of input fields when tabbing between them, is probably caused by the setting of the Overwrite vs Insert mode of the GUI (OVR or INS). You can toggle between the modes in the lower right status bar of the GUI:

If you are in OVR mode, when you tab your cursor will be at the beginning of the input field, but anything you type will overwrite the current contents. In INS mode, it won't overwrite, but when you tab instead of clicking in the next field, it will highlight/select the contents of the field, so when you start typing it will erase the whole field and start putting in your new values. I think this is what you're referring to.

Personally, I prefer OVR mode, and I believe it's the default, but many people like INS better.

For your second question, about the size of icons and buttons in the GUI, this is probably related to the theme chosen, and not so much actual size. Different themes can cause them to look quite different. You can try different themes -- and different font sizes, for that matter -- by clicking the Customize Local Layout button at the far right of the top-most menu bar in the GUI (or hit ALT+F12 on your keyboard), then choose Options from the drop-down menu. You can also get here from the SAP Logon by clicking the small icon in the far upper left of the header bar (before where it says "SAP Logon").

In the SAP GUI Options dialog, at the top you see a selector for Theme. Probably you were more used to one of the older themes, such as SAP Signature (I still prefer this myself), and the new GUI may be defaulting to Blue Crystal. Try toggling to a different theme. Note you have to completely restart SAP GUI and SAP Logon before you see the change.

In Visual Design -> Theme Preview/Settings, some themes have further customization possible. For instance, SAP Signature Theme has an option for Use Corbu style icons.

If the theme isn't it, you can play with Visual Design -> Font Settings to see if this makes the GUI more to your liking.

Cheers,
Matt

Dear Matt,

So many thanks for your detail answer which help my SAP display to be more friendly.

It is already working well. I agree with you that OVR mode and AP Signature are still my refer.

Thanks again.
