use of CAL image for Productive Focused Build?

Hello colleagues,

Is it possible to use that SAP CAL images below for Dev and Prod systems? Or there is any legal or whatever restriction on that?

• Focused Build SP03 for SAP Solution Manager 7.2 for SAP Model Company customers

• Focused Build SP03 for SAP Solution Manager 7.2

I have a customer that is asking me this question. So they want to save time of config using the one of the CAL images for Focused Build.

Hi Filipe,

It is a bring-your-own-license model so if the customer can bring the required licenses for productive use, there won't be a problem to install them on the systems provisioned via SAP CAL.

However the customer should keep in mind that the SAP CAL solutions target mainly test and demo scenarios. Consequently features like high availability and disaster recovery won't be available. Also the systems come with predefined SID and host name that may lead to a conflict when you deploy multiple solution instances.

So my recommendation is to explore carefully what you get before you take a decision to use it productively. We offer a 30-day free trial license agreement for most of the solutions.
