Problem terminating instance of SAP Cloud Appliance Library

Hello, we are having the following problem: we had an error when we wanted to activate the SAP Cloud Appliance Library instance "SAP S / 4HANA 1809 FPS01, Fully-Activated Appliance" under the S-User of Pablo Martin Perez Sbrascini (S0015348798). The error says: "Failed Operation: Resume On Step: Resume virtual machine Message: Action Resume virtual machine did not complete in 1800 seconds."; this error only allows us to use only one option, and it is TERMINATE and we can not do anything because when you want to use the TERMINATE function the system gives us the following message: "You can not terminate this solution instance because the" Termination Protection "property is selected for it, to prevent it from being terminated accidentally. To allow the termination of the instance, you have to deselect the "Termination Protection" checkbox by editing the instance. ". At this time, we can not even use the EDIT function. Since the instance has the Flag to block the TERMINATE we're stuck.

Hi Pablo,

1. Open the Amazon EC2 console at https://console.aws.amazon.com/ec2/ .

2. In the navigation pane, choose Instances.

3. Select the same region where you created the instance in SAP CAL.

Best regards,

Stanimir

Hi Rado, I was trying to find the instance, but I don't really know where to look, AWS has tons of options. I know you are not AWS support, but it will be very helpful for me if you can tell me where I should go to Find instance “i-04ac6bc649addb245”. Thanks in advance.

Hi Rado, I'll do that. Other option is to definitely close my AWS account, and start everything again from scratch: New AWS account, New CAL Instance. One way or another I'll let you know. Thanks for your help!!

Hello Pablo,

Looks the problem is one of the Amazon VMs part of your cal instance. For some reason it stays in state “pending”. Please go to your account in amazon console. Find instance “i-04ac6bc649addb245”. Try to make it running from there. If you’ll manage this way you’ll get the CAL instance back in running state, respectively you’ll get the rest of the actions available.

If for some reason the amazon instance continue to stay in “pending” state then call amazon support.

Best Regards, Rado

Hello Pablo,

Definitely this is not a normal behavior for a CAL instance. Let me check what has happened in the backed before we come back to you.
