Can we limit disk space used by HANA db?

How much disk space can a tenant HANA database consume on a host? Can we limit that? Set autogrowth if it exceeds the amount, or it can grow as long as there is a disk space on the host?

I've never seen a parameter that would limit the disk space used by the SAP HANA.

By default the database will grow as long as there is free space available.

The size of the data file is automatically increased as more space is required. However, it is not automatically decreased when less space is required.

Thanks for the answer, but the thing is that it is resource intensive to increase the size every time with small bits, so I'd like to allocate some space initially, so users won't wait every time for small allocation bits. db8ac33b71d34a778adf273b064c4883

Hello Andranik,

Please have a look at Sizing SAP HANA and especially SAP HANA TDI-Storage Requirements.

In principle, the data and log volumes can easily be contained, but the backup volume for the log backups is not except you chose log mode overwrite.
