Can BPS's CHARs be used in BW query???

Hi all,

Can someone answer my question? I need one CHAR-customer group (SD master data) in my BEx cube and my client created one and loaded from SD/R3 for the BPS cube purpose. Can I use that CHAR (assigned to their BPS cube) for my cube OR i need to create my own and refer to my client's? I know BPS. Thanks

J.

    Hi John,

You can very much use the same Characteristic.

But you would need to be careful that if the client who created it in the first place does not change some properties for the CHAR which tomorrow might not be suitable for your design/reporting.

Whenever you are using common objects it is always best to make sure that if any changes are to be made it should not impact the existing applications using them.

    Hope it helps.

      Hi,

Depends on what you are changing for the CHAR, if you want to change(reduce) something like the datatpe or length of the CHAR than you might create problems be it for any Infocube not just BPS.

So what are you looking to change ?
