SAP BW 7.3 on HANA, do we have to still generating SIDs?

Hello masters, here goes a very quick overview,

we are running SAP BW 7.3 on HANA, with data sources from ECC and EWM and lots of extractors runing hourly. We do have reports at SAP BO (universes looking to Calculation Views at HANA) and at another Data Visualization that looks through another layer of our complex structure of DW (already out of BW), but we do not have any BEX anymore.

Here we go, once we do not use reports direct over SAP BW, is it necessary to still using the SID Generation of DSOs??

As I don´t think so, if I´m right, how can we modify the DSOs to stop using this config without having any problem with the huge data inside?

As we are at BW on Hana and not using reports over it, I think we can stop using that and save space and time, is that right?

Thanks in advance

Hi,

If your reporting is not in Bex or using BW application, you can get away from DSO with SID generation. Try using Data Acquisition layer method to create the DSO and check for the performance of your reporting. This type of ADSO should be using minimal space.

You cannot change an existing ADSO type unless you delete the data and then do the changes.

Hi, SID is used by Bex and since you are not using Bex for reporting you can deactivate it in DSO.

in the change mode of DSO you can uncheck the SID generation option of DSO, you need not to drop data for that.
