The scenario is user's Manager want to book time on his behalf in his absence, after entering his employee user Id, he is getting the error message "No authorization for Personnel Number "XXXXXXXX" using Data Entry Profile name on 07/02/2019."

I have checked in the Data entry profile for both the employee and his manager and it is same.

What is the root cause for this error?

Cause

It is because of missing authorization customizing configs for CATS dummy infotype 0328 and 0316. The infotypes 0316 and 0328 do not actually exist in the system (called 'dummy' infotypes) and are only used to access the HR authorization concept in order to assign authorizations to read, change or approve time sheet data. Those dummy infotypes are maintained in the users authorization profile. The user access to personnel numbers is controlled by those infotypes.

Resolution

1. Run transaction PFCG to find authorization Object P_ORGIN.
2. Please insert enough authorization for infotype 0316 and 0328..." - source, SAP Note
