Production Sequence limited by type of product (SKU)

Hi SAP PP experts,

I would like to know if it is possible to configure the production planning, in order to get, that ,when we want to program a production order for some SKU i.g. SKU1, this one can be programmed just only after a production order for i.g. SKU2, SKU3 but not after i.g.SKU4. I dont know if there is some configuration to restrict in this way the planification, for example giving an error message when we want to program (using CM21) a production order for SKU1 after one for SKU4.

We need this, because we use the same machines to produce different products (SKU) that in some cases they are not compatible, so they cannot be produced one after the other; in this example SKU1 should not be produced when before it was planning to produce the product SKU4.

I would appreciate any help on this topic,

Thanks& Best regards

Cecilia.

Hello Cecilia

There is a feature in capacity leveling that allows you to consider setup group to define the dispatching sequence. I wrote the following blog, that explains how to use this feature:

Hi Cecilia Panza

Try Heuristics Planning from SAP S4 HANA PPDS, We can use our own algorithm in planning.

You have to keep sequence of SKU in a table and incompatible also you have to keep in different table. Then develop logic for the same. i dont think can be achieved in standard function.

The logic develpoment is more important for your scenario. Just sit with Good ABAPER, develop a screen like MD04 with your logic top be applied.

You need to consider capacity of work center and capacity to produce the SKU.

Hello Cecilia,

The functionality which you are looking for cannot be achieved by heuristics.

Using block planning could take you closer to your requirement but you need to specify pre defined time slots for it to plan the products in the specified sequence of time slots.

However this can be achieved by using PPDS optimizer and a careful design of setup matrix.

The idea is to assign very high setup cost for changing from SKU4 to SKU1 from your example and no cost for change over from SKU1 to SKU2, SKU4 to SKU3 etc of you can keeps incremental costs if you have a specific sequence for SKU1 ... SKU4.

PPDS Optimizer will try to find a sequence to minimize the total cost and to do so it will avoid change over from SKU4 to SKU1 as you want.
