Hmmmm, I've never seen a 'for json' statement in ASE (and can't find anything in the manuals).
What RDBMS, and version, are you using?
If 'for json' worked before ... in which RDBMS (and version) did it work?

UPDATE: I found 'for json' mentioned in the IQ (and of course SQL Anywhere) manuals. If you're using IQ (or SQL Anywhere) ... you've posted in the wrong community forum. If you need help finding a more appropriate forum/tag just let us know the RDBMS you're using.
