Changing a batch number in COWBHUWE

Hi all,

first time poster here.

I work in production facility, and many times the physical production area will type in a batch number wrong for the product. I was told to always HUCANC that batch, and make my own with the proper batch number on it. However, in the COWBHUWE screen the batch shows up and appears easy to change. I just change the number I.e. batch 003 to correct batch 013 and save it. The Handling Unit then shows the 013 as the batch, even though it originally was 003 and may be 003 on the sticker that came out with it.

My question is, aside from the sticker having 003 instead of 013 (if i did a reprint of such sticker, it would then be 013) is there any other reason not to do it this way? I am just not sure if that was something someone was told long ago to never do and it just kept on getting passed along. As far as I can tell there is no downside.

Any input would be appreciated. Thank you
