SAC Tenant Version

erdempekcan

Hi,

I've noticed that most of my clients are on different SAC versions. Even more, some of them are on same EU server with different versions.

Does anyone know how tenants get updated when a new release is announced?

For instance, once 2019.12 is announced, when should we expect it on all tenants?

Regards,
Erdem

Hi Erdem,

the Eu1/Eu2 info from the SAC URL isn't really an indicator of physical technical "stack" pointing to a datacenter, it's just a region label.

what i mean to say is, there are many hana systems, hosting many SAC tenants, in many different physical datacentre installations. it's not uncommon for there to be slight variations between update groups.

as already pointed out, some of your customers may be in a 2-week update frequency, others may be in a quarterly cycle. some customers also ask for an exceptional pause to the update cycle, for xyz reasons (rarely granted!).

In very rare circumstances, the upgrade may not be completed in the given maintenance timeframe, then the wave update is held until the next service opportunity.

Moreover, if you are a partner or have accessed a sap demo system - you will undoubtedly be on an earlier update group - 1 week or 2 ahead, respectively, of the public cloud edition.

Hope this helps.

Kind regards,

H

Hello Tammy,

This post was shared earlier to inform every two weeks -> quarterly update change.
Even in both cycles, I can't explain the scenarios I've shared.

I think this explains the releases:

It sounds like not all the subscriptions have been updated yet to the quarterly release

Hi henry.banks, erdempekcan,

we`d also be interessted to check our release cycle for different tenants/ customers.

Is there any chance to derive this information directy form the SAC interface?

The below links might be helpful. I don't think the release cycle information is available in SAC interface. Once updated the interface does provide a notification of What's New features in the notification area.

https://blogs.sap.com/2023/01/18/sap-analytics-cloud-tenants-on-quarterly-release-cycle-qrc-updates-.../

Customer-impacting releases may only take place in February, May, August and November each year.

SAP Harmonized Quarterly Updates for 2023 are the following:

  • 2023 Q1: Feb 17-19 (QRC version 2023.02)
  • 2023 Q2: May 19-21 (QRC version 2023.08)
  • 2023 Q3: Aug 18-20 (QRC version 2023.15)
  • 2023 Q4: Nov 10-12 (QRC version 2023.21).

The below Note talks about the harmonized calendar for QRC for Cloud products including SAC

Hope this helps !!

Hi Henry,

Thank you! I thought eu* refers to physical tenant naming. The samples below are not for partners neither subscribed as test tenants. I guess I can't check whether they're on weekly or quarterly cycle, right?

The point is; in both cases, I don't know when the tenant will be updated and which version is next (considering quarterly cycle includes a couple of updates).

x.eu1 : 2019.8.16
y.eu1 : 2019.10.6
z.eu10 : 2019.8.16

Erdem
