What does 'Resource and Feature Data' in HANA Cockpit mean?

In Cockpit -> Manage Cockpit -> Cockpit Settings -> Data Collection we can see 'Resource and Feature Data' Tab. I can't figure out what is its purpose and what is it used for?

The Resource Directory shows information over all systems or resources. For every resource you can adjust collection frequency. Cockpit checks resource and feature data (version, hosts, usage type) at a set interval. That means, we do not collect every second the data over the registered systems, that is show in the Resource Directory. The Global settings data collection will be updated every 5 minutes, but the customer can adjust it individual for every system.
