Analytics and Solution manager

Hello there.

I've got an question, which troubles me for some time. SAP partners are authorized not only sell SAP licenses, but also to provide 1st / 2nd level support of SAP apps, by doing so we filter out easy tasks and mostly only code problem is sent to SAP support, which is perfectly fine.

My question is - if we solely focus on Analytics and In-Memory solutions apps, then why Analytics partner is pushed to install and configure Solution manager on their premises. I know that Solution manager can be used in Hana support and maintenance process , also it has another set of features , like incident management and charm, but for non SAP ERP partners, like us, this is quite complex process to set this part up, because usually Analytics partners do not have SAP Basis team. In other words speaking, these are useless costs to us, because we need to hire contractor. After PCOE we still have it, but no-one is using it. I use it only because BW is there ad time to time i need some sample data set.

Also, I hardly doubt that many Analytics partners are using Solution Manager for incident management and charm, there a re more user friendly interfaces. I have heard answers like 'Just because you have to and that's it' . maybe someone can enlighten me ...why?

    Hello, Denis

have you ever talked to SAP account managers? I'm tired already to hear their procedural answers, which is nothing else than copy/paste from pdf available online. Here in SDN i hope to hear more 'real life' experience or answers, opinions from other people. This is the whole beauty

of SDN, is not it so?
