Grouping Data used data derived from a formula in Crystal Reports

Hi

I am using CRM data based on two linked tables, one containing data relating to our opportunities, the other table being an opportunities progress table (the word progress is misleading as in effect this table is date time stamping when any change is made to an opportunity - it records the change and the date/time when it happened).

Simple examples of the two data tables are given in the attached document

The output that I am trying to achieve is also set out in the attached documentdata-table-examples-and-desired-report-output.jpg

I have tried to group based on opportunity stage and then using a formula in the group footer to set a date time variable as either the minimum dat time value associated with the 02 - Quoted stage or the current date time if the opportunity has not progressed to or past the quote stage. While this gives me the correct quote date time (or current date time) and cannot then create another group using this output - i.e. trying to create the groups identified in the output above (i.e. Not yet quoted, Quoted after seven days, Quoted within seven days). I think this is because you cannot create a group based on derived data that is only evaluated while printing (which I think it has to be).Is there any other way to try and achieve the above.

Apologies for the long question but hope that the detail examples the challenge.
