SLES 12 SP3 for SBO , Python 2.7 and HANACleaner

I always download SLES from but after installing, I see that the python version is 2.7 What is the safest way to have python 3.x on SLES for SBO with SAP HANA ?

HANACleaner needs Python version 3 but I do not know what is the best way to have/upgrade to python v3 without affecting any library or installation of SBO 9.3 PL09 for HANA?

    Hello Hector,

I'm not sure where you have read that HANACleaner needs Python v3, because all SAP provided python script inside /usr/sap/SID/HDB00/exe/python_support use 2.7 version of python. Also as mentioned in the pdf, it ask to execute HANACleaner script using <sid>adm which make sure that proper python version is already in your path.

HANA doesn't use default python libraries that comes with SLES, instead SAP provide python libraries with HANA installation which is installed inside HANA folders and set as environment variable.

If you run below command with <sid>adm, you will see the python library path for HANA and the version which HANA uses.

    # env | grep -i PYTHONPATH

I have written a blog on HANACleaner and I have used default Python version that was provided with HANA and it works fine without any issue.
