Removing View rights to everyone group

I would like to create a security model which give folder View access based on departments in public folder. For instance, if you are part of the user group Sales, you would only see Sales Folder which is under Public Folder. If you are in the Marketing, you should NOT be able to see the Marketing Folder under and its content the Public Folder.

The issue I have is , by default, when you create a user/group, they are automatically member of Everyone Group. And , Everyone user Group have a view access to all Public Folders under the top folder. When I tried to assign No Access Right to everyone on the Top Level security Access, everyone loses the rights to create new folders in the Public Folders. Is there a way to ensure Everyone user group does not have a View access to All Public folders?

Hi Michael ,

I have create a custom access level from the Original view access level , however , I don't see any where from the list of rights, which one would allow me to just grant a view on the top level folder only. So do you mind providing steps to about how you do it ?

Thanks.

To answer your question, YES you can do this.

Change the Top Level User Security for the Root Public Folder ("All Folders") so Everyone only has the rights to View that folder but not sub-folders. That will at least get them to the root of the Public Folders. I do this in our environment using a Custom Access Level That only grants Views rights on the object itself, not sub-objects.

Then assign the appropriate User Group additional access to the appropriate public folder.
