Profile pictures from Outlook to C4

We are using the outlook add-in for C4C to synchronize contacts from C4C to Outlook and from Outlook to C4C.

The Add-in is activated for every C4C user (~350 user).

If a C4C-contact is classified as an outlook-contact (frequently sync between C4C and Outlook) it will be shown in Outlook. If a user add a profile picture to the Outlook-contact it will be uploaded by the next sync to C4C. Due to the sync of C4C contacts to all users via Outlook add-in every user of the Outlook add-in has the profile in his outlook.

This system behavior could be a problem regarding data security.

Does anyone have a solution to block the sync of profile pictures between Outlook and C4C? Or does anyone have a workaround?

Not to use profile pictures is a solution but not an ensured solution by the system. How good it works depends on the thoroughness of the users --> not the best solution.

Not to use contact sync is no solution.

Thank you for your answers.

  • Hi Jan-Erik,

At least from C4C add-in side there's no way to filter the information that is synchronized at this level. Not sure if from MS Outlook side it could be done though, never seen a similar scenario before.

Maybe it would be an interesting suggestion for a new feature. If you think this would be helpful you can raise this idea in our customer influence portal https://influence.sap.com/sap/ino/#/campaign/1868 . Development is monitoring there for the more demanded ideas and depending on feasibility, this option may be implemented in a future release.
