Hi All,

I am trying to install a brand new server on windows 2016 server ENT using the SQL4SAP.BAT script for non runtime since I do not buy my license via SAP. When I execute it with elevated command prompt, it asks me for the path to the setup.exe of SQL. No path I enter it will accept. I tried a UNC path, I copied the media to my D drive and tried H:\setup.exe, continues to tell me it cannot find the media, Any tips?

    Hi Joshua,

please only enter the directory and not the path to the setup.exe.

In your case, can you try with H: ?

I got it working, i simply merged the SQL4SAP.BAT files into the SQL2016 folder, ran it from there, never prompts for a path, simply moves on to installation.

Why build an interface to browse if it doesn't work!>?

    Thanks Diego,

However I previously used those notes to download the proper non runtime SAP media with the proper Bat file.

I don't believe my issue is related to missing files, the installer executes, prompts me for the location of the setup.exe of MSSQL, however no matter what path, local or UNC, it will not accept it.

My work around was to merge the SAP media with the SQL 2016 media into 1 folder. Works fine, installation complete

    Dear Joshua,
just to make sure you downloaded the correct and complete SW media:

There has been a big change in terms of SW "license" for the new Microsoft SQL Server release 2014 and higher, I recommend you check following on-line SAP reference.

"SQL Server Installation Media for SAP NetWeaver products"

New General Download Restrictions for all SQL Server Releases

As of April 2015, downloading the SQL Server installation media for NetWeaver based systems from the SAP Service Market Place is restricted to SAP customers who have licensed Microsoft SQL Server through SAP. SAP customers who have acquired their SQL Server license from Microsoft or a re-seller, needs to obtain the installation media from Microsoft or the re-seller.

    SQL Server 2014/2016 Download Restrictions

As of SQL Server 2014, Microsoft has included new Use Terms in the licenses sold under the reselling agreement with SAP. As a re-seller, we must notify customers of the new Use Terms and we must receive acknowledgement of the customers' receipt of the terms. Therefore, all customers who have purchased their SQL Server license from SAP must contact their SAP Account Executive (or SAP Partner/Re-seller) in order to obtain a copy of the new use terms via an Amendment and sign their receipt of the Amendment. If you have not signed the agreement you will not be able to see the SQL Server 2014/2016 in the download area of SAP Service Marketplace.
