Questions on SAP C4C merge functionality

Hi ,I am working on the integration from SAP C4C to another CRM and have below questions for SAP C4C:

  1. How to enable the merge option in SAP C4C. We have followed the steps provided in below link but still its not showing “Initiate Merge” option in UI. https://blogs.sap.com/2016/11/07/sap-c4c-account-duplication-check-and-merging/
  2. What is re-parenting in SAP C4C, is there any documentation for it.
  3. Can merge and re-parenting be done using API calls or through UI only?

Another general question related to API is , Which object we should use to sync SAP C4C Phone Call, Task and Events activities.

Thanks,Pratibha

Hi Pratibha,

1. To enable merge option you have to scope the solution in business configuration > general business partner data > handling of business partner > do you want to enable account merge.

2. Re-Parenting: I'll try to explain it via an example. If you have account 1 with associated sales quotes i.e. quote 1 & quote 2 and account 2 with associated sales quotes i.e. quote a & quote b. If you merge account 1 with account 2 with account 1 as master & account 2 as duplicate then after successful merge account 1 will have four sales quotes i.e. quote 1, quote 2, quote a & quote b. So in this example, quote a & quote b are re-parented to account 1.

3. We can use standard web service(A2X ManageBusinessPartnerMergeIn) to create & execute merge calls. Also we can use standard odata to create merge calls.

Thanks,

Jayant

Hi Jayant,

Thanks for your reply. Can you also help understanding which type of object to use for Phone Call, Task and Events activities as requested by Pratibha?

"Another general question related to API is , Which object we should use to sync SAP C4C Phone Call, Task and Events activities.

Hello Sandeep,

I believe that you can use the same objects for this purpose, as they are implemented in the c4codataapi.

Kind regards,

Leonardo
