What version of Crystal Reports will work with Oracle 8i database

We have an 8i database with Crystal Reports that we need to run. We installed CR2016 but it will not connect to the database. We know we have a good tnsnames.ora file in the correct location (same one works with PL/SQL developer). We can tnsping the service. We are using the native Oracle 9.2 client driver (the same one we use for PL/SQL. We set a system variable for the oracle_home and for tns_admin. But we still get the error.

    Hi Jim,

It's been a while since I worked with Oracle 8i but it should work as long as you are using a 32 bit driver. Try using ODBC instead of the native driver.

What version of Windows are you using?

What error do you get when you try logging in?

    Hi Brian,

We are running on Win7. We get the Oracle 12145 Can't resolve service name error. The tnsname.ora file is good. But it looks like CR is not using/reading the file or it can't use the 9.2 client. Not sure we want to use ODBC - native client is preferred.
