SAP CPI on-premises runtime configuration

Dear All,

In our landscape, we are introducing SAP CPI as central hybrid middleware (cloud neo runtime for cloud based integration and SAP CPI on premise runtime in existing SAP PO system to address our audit bounded integration).

For the on-premises SAP CPI runtime configuration, following SAP notes and blogs, we have decided to enable cloud-integration content in non-central adapter engine to decoupe SAP PO runtime and SAP CPI runtime. In this configuration, we are building non-central adapter engine and it requires separate SID and database during the installation which symbolizes the non-central adapter engine to be built as separate system. We would like to know the best practice regarding the non-central adapter engine build.

With respect to SAP CPI On-Premises runtime, we have the below queries. Response to these queries will be helpful to decide on the installation.

  1. Is it a separate system which needs to be built for non-central adapter engine or shall we configure non-central adapter engine within the existing SAP PO system (use existing system resources)
  2. Is any licensing involved for the non-central adapter engine build and configuration of SAP CPI on-premises runtime (SAP CPI EE licensing is already available)
  3. If we are configuring SAP CPI On-Premises runtime (Cloud Integration Content) in SAP PO central engine, what are the system sizing requirements we need to consider.

Sharing the experience on hybrid SAP CPI configuration, and response to the queries will be really helpful to us.

Thanks for your kind support as always.

Regards,

Baskar

    Hi Baskar,

wrt 1. The de-central AE has to be a separate system

wrt 2. depends on your license, if you have the core based PO license, the number of cores that your de-central system runs on do count, see also the following blog where I answer a couple of license related questions at https://blogs.sap.com/2019/04/24/sap-process-orchestration-what-options-do-i-have-when-upgrading-or-migrating-to-release-7.5/

wrt 3. you may use quicksizer to determine the overall number of cores, system requirements for the cloud integration runtime are comparable to the PI runtime
