Cannot establish connection to Azure account in spite of given authorization

Hello Experts,

I have created an Azure trial account with both roles "Owner" and "User Access Administrator" assigned. When I now try to create a SAP CAL account to establish the connection to Azure I get an authorization error anyway. So I'm not able to deploy any CAL instance. What can I do?

Thank you very much in advance!

Regards, Dirk

Hello Dirk,

If you already have assigned yourself the role "User Access Administrator" or "Owner" for your trial subscription, you need only your subscription id to create an account with standard authorization type. For more details see the following three sectcions :

"How do I check the roles that have been assigned to my Microsoft Azure user in a subscription?",

"How do I get the subscription ID of the subscription in my Microsoft Azure account?" and

"How to connect to Microsoft Azure from SAP Cloud Appliance Library with the Standard Authorization type?"

in the wiki. Also ensure that your free trial subscription's status is "Active".

Hello Decho,

thank you very much for your quick answer!

I'm using a free trial subscription named "Kostenlose Testversion". Within this subscription my role is "Account admin" and I have manually assigned the 2 roles "Owner" and "User Access Administrator" to my user. For creating an account to deploy a CAL I have used the "Standard Authorization"-Type.

The used Azure Active Directory is a company directory to which I unfortunately do not have access. Is that the problem? Do I need to find a colleague who has Azure Active Directory access rights to assign a certain role to me in that directory?

Thank you very much again for your help!

Best regards,

Dirk

Hello Dirk,

Please answer to these questions:

  • Which authorization type did you choose?
  • Do you have roles assigned in Azure Active Directory ?
  • Do you have roles assigned in the used subscription?

For reference, check this wiki page to see what are the authorization types and how to setup them.

Best regards,

Decho
