In my case, I have already 5 native applications defined in SAP Cloud Platform Mobile Services.
Solution:
log on to your SAP Cloud Platform mobile Services account at https://hcpmsadmin-<your_user_id>trial.dispatcher.hanatrial.ondemand.com/
and navigate to Mobile Applications > Native/Hybrid. Select one of the available application configurations and delete it in order for the SDK Assistant to add the new application configuration.

This is a common issue with trial accounts, which have the 5 application max. In newer versions of the Assistant, you should see a 418 in this case.
Another option, especially if you are sharing the machine and switching user accounts, is to re-install the Assistant. (brute-force, though you won't lose any data). We saw one machine at TechEd that ended up in a hung state between onboarding/offboarding users. Reinstalling from the DMG recovered.
