Hi All,
We are planning to perform OS/DB migration for the BOBJ and the BODS application. It is currently running on Redhat and oracle database and we are planning to migrate to windows with MSsql database.
Please share your views and approach for the migration and if steps are provided it will be useful.
Thanks,
karthik
Hi Dell,
well, the point is that I would manage a migration to a new architecture as an upgrade out-of-place (never, never do in-place). You're of course right about migrating from 4.2 to another 4.*, but excluding that specific case, my point isn't wrong.
And in my experience, usually you don't switch from an OS/DB version without an upgrade of the software (there is no real advantage today in this kind of migration).
Best regards
Daniele

Hi,
for what concerns BOBJ, techinically there should no problem:
However, you have to right a plan for your migration and update, and you should consider the patterns provided for a SAP BO Update:

Daniele,
Karthik doesn't mention which version he's on and the UMT doesn't work if you're on 4.2 and migrating from another 4.x system. He also doesn't mention an upgrade, just a migration to new OS and database. I would want to do the migration and make sure everything is working correctly from that change before doing any sort of upgrade. That way, if there's problems, you know where the problems are coming from.

You need to do the below:
1. Install the BI/ BODS version on the Windows environment. ( with default Database same version as source)
2. Setup MS SQL and with DB for CMS.
3. Configure DSN/ TNSNAME with oracle client on the windows machine.
4. Run Copy Data Source 1803100 - How to use "Copy Data Source" in Central Configuration Manager 4.0 Windows
5. Copy the File Store from Unix and paste it on windows machine.
The above steps are for BI Migration for BODS check below:
