WEBI Report Scheduling Using Dynamic Recipient Publication Failed.

Hello,

I have a requirement to generate and schedule a dynamic user specific report from a master report. In the master report I have an dynamic email address column containing email addresses of different users, If there are N distinct email address against M number of records in master report I would like to generate N no of reports and each report containing only those records specific to each particular email address to be sent via email to that particular email address.

For this purposed I am trying to achieve it using dynamic recipient publication method. But I am unable to test run the publication as it is giving an error and going into failed state. When going through the error details I am unable to troubleshoot what is causing the error. Below is the error details from a log file

When I click on the instance time in the publication Instance history it shows that the files are generated containing the data I desire but the status of the instance fails hence no email is received.

What can be the cause of this issue? Kindly note in this scenario my source and master report to be sent to the user are the same report while setting the personalization of the publication. I have also tried testing using 2 reports that is 1 containing only one column having all the email address and the other master report having all the columns including the email address column. But I am receiving the same error. Also kindly note when unchecking the use entire list column I am able to see the data.

  • 1-How can I troubleshoot this issue?
  • 2-For creating a publication, can we have a source document same as dynamic recipient document? Or both should always be different?
  • 3-Can there be rights specific issue relating to SMTP setting set by the organization?

Looking forward to your response & thanking you in advance.

Regards,

Bassam

Hello Kuldeep,

I had no access to CMC hence was not aware if SMTP was configured. I requested the administrator to check if the configurations were done on the server. It turned out the SMTP configurations had to be done on the server, doing so has resolved my issue.

Thanks you for your support

Regards,

Bassam

I would try and do this for a particular email id first instead of using the entire list. See if the schedule is any success and then do it for the entire list.

Thank you for your response Kuldeep,

I did tried it for one email address by unchecking the use entire list and moving one email address in the selected section, it gave me the same error.

Did you tried sending it to yourself? A funny question, can you schedule a report (not publication) to an email destination? See if the SMTP is working or not?
